Paper Survey Conducted

I was a little stuck with the direction I wanted to take the brief, so straight after the concept development workshop I produced and printed a survey which I only gave to my target audience, young women. I asked questions regarding cosmetics, and the advertisement of the products.

How old are you?
  1. 20
  2. 20
  3. 20
  4. 20
  5. 21
  6. 20
  7. 21

Do you use any products to change your appearance? If so please specify below.
    1. Powder, blusher, concealer, eyeliner, brow liner, mascara.
    2. Concealer, foundation, mascara
    3. Mascara, foundation, eyebrow pencil
    4. False eye lashes, Make up, fake tan, hair dye, nail varnish
    5. Make up, Hair dye
    6. Tinted moisturiser, mascara, lipstick
    7. Eyelashes, make up, fake tan, nail varnish, hairspray, hair dye

What is your opinion on the way these products are advertised?
Do you think they are honest? Manipulative? Deceiving?
  1. Deceiving
  2. Manipulative and deceiving but I still buy make up.
  3. Deceiving / fake / unattainable - I buy it because I like the product.
  4. Deceiving - made out to be better than they are so you will buy them and often air brush models
  5. Hair dye is a lie, it never looks the same as the box.
  6. Often quite false, if small print is present, its very small eg 'false lash effect mascara'
  7. Deceiving, do not do what they say.

How do you think this problem should be approached / solved / directed?

  1. Natural models, not computer enhanced ones
  2. REAL WOMEN none of these airbrushed bitches.
  3. Change the models...change the outlook that you 'have to' look like that.
  4. Use real stats on adverts, no airbrushing, small print clearer
  5. Stop photoshopping models, get real product shots
  6. Honesty, successful branding will ensure this product can be well marketed
  7. By not false advertising.

Would you buy a cosmetic range which was honest in telling you how the product works, and its effectiveness?
For instance, a fondation stating:
'Its not a miracle worked, but will try its best to give you that porcelain complexion."

  1. Yes
  2. Yes
  3. Yes, because it would stand out & be different
  4. Yes, I would give it a go. Then at least if it doesn't work as well as you had hoped you are not do disappointed.

  1. Maybe
  2. Nope
