Good is...? Spot varnishing

I wanted to use spot varnishing within my pop up catalog, to make the windows look glass like. I decided to mimic this look using a paintbrush and clear nail polish, to push it forward as a concept. 

Unfortunately, with the mass range of colours the pop up houses had, the gloss isn't very clear once applied and re-coated. From this, I do now know, it can only be applied to a substrate of one colour, something to consider in the future.

Keeping to the eco ethos, keeping the books consistent by using a continued pattern repetition, labels and the plaited rope across the designs.

I'm really quite proud of the designs, the quality is really quite good, and have a professional look. I feel  I have worked well to the brief, and been able to provide a quality range of products suitable for the purpose intended.

Seeing my designs on paper like this gives my idea a real sense of what it will look like. With using pencil, I can quite easily change the arrangement and layout of the catalog, from this I can produce mock ups. Another positive to producing mock up sheets, makes the digital design process that much easier. With the notes I can understand content, the images I'll be using, colour, print, and stock considerations.

Its a proposal for my front cover design I would like to use, Whether to simply propose it or actually do it, will depend on time.

I would also like to use this method of metallic embossing within my other product, possibly being consistent and using it on just logos within my designed products. This will highlight my branding, and really bring a high level of constancy within them.

Attempting to understand structure, and how to create two buildings on one pop up piece, which care of different depth and size. I found it difficult trying to re-create a certain weehouse so I experimented a little.
