100..Research Proposal. - DESIGN PROCESS

My subject is:

ALLERGIES

I am going to collect/record/document

-THE RANGE OF DIFFERENT ALLERGIES
- WHAT CAUSES AN ALLERGY
- THE SYMPTOMS OF PARTICULAR ALLERGIES
- HOW LONG ALLERGIC REACTIONS LAST
- WHAT ALLERGIES ARE PERMENANT AND WHICH ARE NOT
- WHAT AIDS AN ALLERGIC REACTION
- WHAT MEDICATION IS USED FOR ALLERGIES
- THE LINK BETWEEN GENETICS
- HOW TO AVOID A REACTION

Possible catergories will include:
- THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF ALLERGIC REACTIONS
- HOW GENETICS AFFECTS WHAT ALLERGIES YOU HAVE
- HOW THE ENVIRONMENT AFFECTS ALLERGIES
- THE MOST COMMON
- WHAT 'BRINGS ON' AN ALLERGY
- THE HISTORY OF ALLERGIES
- THE MOST COMMON/RARE ALLLERGIES

How will you research ?

Primary
- INTERVIEWING PEOPLE ABOUT THEIR ALLERGIES
- PRODUCING QUESTIONAIRES TO GIVE OUT
- COLLECT STATS AND FIGURES GAINING A PERCENTAGE OF HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE AN ALLERGY
- ASK PEOPLE FOR THEIR OWN THOERIES ABOUT HELPING AN ALLERGIC REACTION
- PHOTOGRAPH ALLERGY INFORMATION IN PUBLIC DOMAIN

Secondary
- LOOKING ON THE NHS WEBSITE SOURCING INFORMATION AND ADVICE GIVEN ABOUT ALLERGIES
- SOURCING ONLINE OPINIONS AND HOME REMEDIES FOR ALLERGIC REACTIONS
- LOOKING AT PHOTOS OF REACTIONS
- WHAT MEDICATION / TREATMENT IS AVAILABLE
- THE STATS AND FIGURES OF HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE AN ALLERGY
- RESEARCH BEING CONDUCTED INTO ALLERGIES
- LOOK AT RELATED ALLERGIES AND HOW GENETICS COME INTO IT.
- HOW ALLERGIES ARE PRESENTED WITHIN FOOD AND MEDICATION PACKAGING.

Who/Where/What will you research

Primary
- INTERVIEWING FAMILY AND FRIENDS (as allergies can be personal, keep all names personal)
-PRODUCE QUESTIONAIRES AND GIVE OUT TO FRIENDS, FAMILY AND STUDENTS WITHIN COLLEGE
- ASK RANDOM PEOPLE WITHIN CITY CENTRE THE QUESTION 'DO YOU HAVE AN ALLERGY' TO COLLECT A STATISTIC
- ASK RANDOM PEOPLE WITHIN COLLEGE/CITY CENTRE/HALLS ANY THOERIES THEY HAVE WHICH WOULD HELP AN ALLERGIC REACTION
- LOOK IN A PHARMACY AT THE AISLE FOR ALLERGIES AND WHAT IS AVAILABLE.
- LOOK AT PACKAGING DESIGN

Secondary
- SEE WHAT HELP IS GIVEN ON THE NHS WEBSITE WHETHER ANY HELP LINES ARE OFFERED OR ANY PROGRAMS WHICH HELP YOU UNDERSTAND IF YOU HAVE AN ALLERGY YOURSELF. (LOOK AT WEBSITE DESIGN)
- LOOK ONLINE AND WITHIN MAGAZINES FOR OPINIONS AND PERSONAL EXPERIENCES RELATING TO ALLERGIC REACTIONS
- LOOK ONLINE, IN BOOKS AND MAGAZINES FOR IMAGES OF THE EFFECTS OF REACTIONS
- LOOK ONLINE FOR MEDICATION AVAIABLE AND SEE IF THERE IS A WIDE RANGE.
- LOOK ONLINE AND WITHIN BOOKS AT STATISTICS GIVEN ABOUT HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE AN ALLERGY OR A PARTICULAR ALLERGY.
- RULES AND REGULATIONS ABOUT ALLERGY INFOMRATION BEING PRESENTED ON FOOD AND MEDICATION PACKAGING.

What form and quantity will be produced?
Primary
- DOCUMENTATION OF FINDINGS, TO BE PRODUCED INTO GRAPHS AND PERCENTAGES TO BE BLOGGED.
- ALL INFORMATION TO BE BLOGGED IN A VISUAL ENGAGING AND ORGAINSED WAY.

Secondary
TO BE ORGANISED INTO CATERGORIES. POSSIBLY CREATING BOARDS FOR EACH AREA. PICKING THE MORE FOCUED AREA'S OF MY RESEARCH IN ORDER TO GAIN AN IDEA OF A FINAL OUTCOME.

A new brief - Typogateaux

The brief - You are required to produce a typo gateaux that resembles an existing letterform or glyph.

Consideration - The typogateaux can be created from a bought cake that is then crafted into a typographical form.

Judging criteria:

Inside characteristics - 5 points
(Even grain, evenly baked; free from air pockets)

Outside characteristics - 5 points
(Consistant shape/size/surface; overall appeal)

Mandatory requirements

All typogateaux must be manufactured / adapted in a sanitary environment.

Deliverables

Completed registration card that will list the individual who produced the typogateaux and the typographic form it represents.

Colour Theory

My letter : A

What we had to do - Take photo's with the college which related to our given word.
I was undecided at first about the logic of my photo's, but explored the way in which, structurally the letter 'A' is created. Some are obvious, other's a bit hidden...

Our three boards

Since our idea's vastly changed from the crit, we re-designed our 3 boards to use within the presentation we gave.
