The mass plan!

We, as a class, were put into our 'Blog groups' which consists of, in our case, five people. We were to have to work together as a team on our given brief.
We approached the brief with an already given title of 'How to get over homesickness'. As a group we decided to brainstorm ideas of 'what we miss' and 'solutions'. Our peers had to decided for us which of our narrowed down idea's were much preferred, and with, we had to produce this solution.

Here are just a few of the brainstorms.

The initial brainstorm outlining what causes home sickness.

Here we noted what problems we found as a 'fresher', we chose very individual and specific problems, aswe agreed it's usually the little things which causes home sickness.

We all put together a list of solution to our overall problem along with some design idea's for products and merchandise. We came up with several slogans whhich new students could relate to. Brand names were also mentioned to give any products made continuity and a proffesional outcome.

Another on going list of problems as a 'fresher'.

Here we were told to be more specific and pick just five main problems to deal with. We then brainstormed them thinking of several very specific solutions to each.

Later we picked just three solution ideas to the problems we found and our peers were asked to pick one for us. We came to realise our presentation skills had not reflected our idea's well enough for people to genuinlly pick and idea, and the outcome was simply a guess at what would be best. I feel if we had looked from an outsiders point of view on our project, we would have been alot more detailed within describing our solution to others. Overall the decision was a tote bag design would be produced, with a design to give comfort to those suffering home sickness.

The brief, a few notes and idea's made.

As our solution was chosen as tote bag designs, we each decided to pick an aspect of what gave us home comfort. After a discussion, we came up with five areas to produce a design for:
  • Dealing with alcohol.
  • Getting into the habit of cleaning.
  • The home comfort of baking.
  • Caffeine related home comfort.
  • Turning attention to the new and exciting experiance of university.

We discussed our project within online forums, in this case facebook. Discussing our plans for the project between ourselves, posting designs and getting opinions from member of our team which became very helpful. Advice was given to eachother, which meant an audience would hopefully be able to see continuity and a team working well together as everyone had an input into eachothers designs and idea's. A few team members even posted designs online to gain opinion.
